Chippewa Falls Museum of Industry and Technology (CFMIT) was opened in May 1998 in the hopes of preserving the rich and vast history of industry and technology within the Chippewa Valley. While preserving the history, exhibits have been enacted to display those industries that were created here within Chippewa Falls from innovators such as Seymour Cray, Jacob Leinenkugel, and August Mason each having contributed with varying products.
Showcasing inventions of these three individuals is only part of what CFMIT does. Partnering with other museums across the country and other organizations, some exhibits are traveling and can end up changing depending on this, meaning that the museum is ever evolving in what it showcases while still keeping to true to what has happened in the Chippewa Valley for industry and technology. The museum also offers tours to those who are interested and will never turn away someone who wishes to learn. Educating the public on historic feats is what CFMIT is all about and of course inspiring future innovators. What We Do Our mission is to record, preserve and promote the history of industry and technology in the Chippewa Valley for our community. It is also to provide educational programs and opportunities for our children, relating to how our area businesses operated in the past and how they now operate in the present. |
We are located next to the Boys & Girls Club in downtown Chippewa Falls.
